Contrary to what some may believe, getting a great score on the MCAT isn't due to just being a natural "genius." The MCAT is primarily a content-based exam, meaning your success is based on your ability to retain and apply the information needed, not just intuit correct answers. It is very different from other tests like the SAT or ACT, not only in difficulty and length, but in structure and philosophy.Like many students before me, I achieved this MCAT score through working hard, but also working smart. I'm here to help you do the same.
My tutoring experience
I have completed the National Tutoring Association training and certification course program for client-centered tutoring methods, published by the Cambridge-Stratford Study Skills Institute.I have 3 years of experience as a tutor with the Center for Academic Excellence at Truman State University. I tutored a wide range of disciplines, including biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, psychology, and statistics in the sciences. I had the most clients for my organic chemistry tutoring, where the students I tutored recommended me often for my ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms.I have also taken on several private tutoring clients over the years, from middle school to college-aged, on a variety of subjects.
My scientific background
In college, I majored in neuroscience, often participating in research. While I did excel in all of my courses, achieving a 4.0 GPA, I didn't do it all on my own. I often sought out tutors for assistance with understanding concepts from my classes, especially for chemistry. Seeking out tutors helped me do my absolute best in those classes, and it set me up for success for my MCAT down the road!Having a good tutor is invaluable; I know from experience.
